This Privacy Notice for East-West Ministries International (“East-West”) explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information. Please read below to learn:
This Privacy Notice applies only to personal information that we collect on the https://www.eastwest.org/ or www.eastwest.managedmissions.com websites (the “Site”) as they may be modified, relocated and/or redirected from time to time. Personal information is information that could reasonably be used to identify you individually, such as your name or email address.
The Site is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older and only for a U.S. audience. If you are under the age of 18, you are not authorized to use the Site. Any information you provide, including any personal information, will be transferred to, and processed by, a computer server located within the United States and will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Notice and U.S. law, which may be less stringent than the law where you reside.
If you do not want us to handle your personal information as described in this Privacy Notice, please do not use the Site.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily disclose with us through the Site. The information you voluntarily share with us may include:
We do not receive your payment card or other payment information when you make a donation. Payment information is processed by our service providers and is subject to financial regulations and payment industry standards.
To serve you better, we collect information through technology. When you access and use the Site, East-West and, in some cases, our third-party service providers collect information about how you interact with the Site. We describe below a few of the methods we use to collect information through technology.
When you visit the Site, we collect your browser information, device identifier, and Internet Protocol (IP) address. An IP address is often associated with the portal you used to enter the Internet, like your Internet service provider (ISP), company, association, or university. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our website, analyze trends, track users’ movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. An IP address may reveal your ISP or geographic area, but we cannot determine your identity solely based upon your IP address.
Cookies
We use cookies on the Site. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. We use cookies to help us understand and save your preferences for future visits to the Site. For example, cookies gather information about how long you spend on a web page so that we can understand what web pages are of most interest to users.
You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off cookies by adjusting your browser settings. Like most websites, if you turn your cookies off, some of the features on the Site may not function properly.
Track Online Activities Over Time and Across Websites
For purposes of statistical research and analytics and to serve you information relevant to you, we use third-party service providers to track your online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services.
‘Do Not Track’ Browser Setting
We do not support the Do Not Track (DNT) browser setting. Some web browsers incorporate a “Do Not Track” feature (DNT) that signals to the websites that you visit that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. Many websites and applications, including our Site, do not currently respond to web browser DNT signals because such signals are not yet uniform. For more information about DNT signals, please visit http://allaboutdnt.com.
The Site includes links from the Site to websites operated by third parties and it also includes plug-ins (e.g., Facebook plug-ins) from third-party sites. East-West does not control any third-party sites and is not responsible for any information they may collect. The information collection practices of a third-party site are governed by its privacy policy. It is your choice to enter any third-party site. We recommend that you read its privacy policy if you choose to do so.
We use the information we collect to serve you and to improve your experience on the Site. Some examples include:
We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties. The following are some of the ways we disclose your information:
The security and confidentiality of your personal information is important to us. We have technical, administrative, and physical security measures in place to protect your personal information from unauthorized access or disclosure and improper use.
For example, only employees who need the personal information to perform a specific job (for example, a donor relations coordinator) are granted access to personal information. Employees with access to personal information are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.
Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information. Despite our reasonable efforts, no security measure is ever perfect or impenetrable.
Donor Confidentiality
If a donor requests his gift to be anonymous, the gift will be indicated anonymous and any reports run where this gift may appear will not include the donor’s identifying information.
East-West will never rent or sell our donor list or any other donor information. East-West may disclose donor information to our auditors, to service providers under contract with us, and as required by law.
Email Preferences
At any time, you may opt in or out of emails. We only add an email record to an email list if we have been given permission (verbal, written or through our website) to do so. All email messages sent to our corporate email lists contain a “Manage preferences” link where you can opt in or out of emails. It is our best practice to try and honor your subscription requests by the next scheduled email message. In some cases, you may receive an email from an individual that doesn’t contain an unsubscribe or “Manage preferences” link. Please respond to that email or contact [email protected] if you wish to unsubscribe and cannot find an unsubscribe link.
Data Retention
We will retain personal information as long as permitted or required by law.
