“We must stop the training!”

These words usually ring out when believers learn of an approaching police raid to break up their gatherings in Southeast Asia … but that wasn’t the case at this East-West training.

Stop and Obey

Local believers were learning how to make disciples and plant churches and the day’s lesson was on baptism. As the group walked through Scriptures in Acts on the subject, they asked two questions: Who performed baptism? When did baptism occur?

A few passages in, they learned that believers baptized new believers immediately after they came to faith in Jesus Christ.

That’s when the leader of training and others demanded to stop the training.

New followers of Christ were in the room that had not been baptized, and they insisted on obeying God by being baptized right away.

The Fruit of Those Who Obey

The training stopped, the group gathered, and eight new believers were obedient to profess their trust in Christ for eternal salvation by stepping into the baptismal waters.

Since this training, local believers have led 10 more people to Jesus, all of whom have obeyed God by displaying their faith through baptism.
