“Such an Awesome God” by Maverick City Music featuring Maryanne J. George
Scripture
“‘“But now be strong, Zerubbabel,” declares the Lord. “Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,” declares the Lord, “and work. For I am with you,” declares the Lord Almighty.“This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.”
“‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,” says the Lord Almighty. “The silver is mine and the gold is mine,” declares the Lord Almighty. “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,” says the Lord Almighty. “And in this place I will grant peace,” declares the Lord Almighty.’” -Haggai 2:4-9, emphasis added
God’s Command and Promise
One month of silence between Haggai chapters 1 and 2, and the Lord comes with His promise of GLORY! He needed some things right set in the hearts of His people. Babylon was being purified out of them. Their vision was being reset and realigned to the purposes of God. Their feet had to be set in motion. The people begin to build the house of the Lord that was in ruins without knowing what was coming. And then God speaks, “‘Be strong … work … do not fear (Haggai 2:4-5).’” Action accompanied their hearing from the Lord. And a promise of blessing came and set vision before them as they worked.
Solomon’s temple was glorious, but nothing compared to the glory of what was coming! And we both know that was Christ in US, the hope of glory! We became His temple—the place His Spirit and His glory dwells. Haggai was prophesying the glory of God filling that temple, but the desire of all nations is Jesus, and what He is doing in the Earth today is glorious through His people! It was a prophetic promise for then and now.
Modern Glory Carriers
We have been made GLORY CONTAINERS! We get to carry His glory, His purposes, His heart because He lives in us. And out of us flow living waters that touch the lives of those we engage with, here and all over the world. What a joyous calling and privilege. I know that in our American culture of individualism—and now emphatic “distancing”—it’s intimidating to share our lives and our stories and our Jesus with people. But if souls are going to be won for Jesus, we want to be right in the middle of it! I don’t want to be on the bleachers cheering the harvest in; I want to have my “beautiful feet” in the field, working and praying alongside one another. Will you come with me?
The Bride is arising! I receive testimony after testimony of women whose hearts are coming alive. They are experiencing a revival of love for the One their hearts adore. The Holy Spirit is being poured out on sons and daughters, fueling courageous and passionate resolve. As you are reading these words, if this is the desire of your heart, will you say to the Lord, “I want this, Jesus. Will you do this in me? I surrender my life and plans and purposes to you today.”
In 2004, I was sitting at Saddleback Church in California, where we were attending at the time. Rick Warren said, “I dare you to pray the most dangerous prayer of your life: ‘God, send me.’” I remember distinctly thinking, “I have prayed that hundreds of times (just having had daughter No. 4) and He never answers, but here it goes.” I think I got a wink from Heaven because months later we received a clear call from the Lord to move to Texas, and the journey began.
Just a few months ago, I penned these words: “Do you think Jesus is getting His sandals back on?” It was pertaining to His long-awaited return. But right now, I have a sense the Holy Spirit is asking us the very same question:
Will you get your sandals back on?
Preparation for Purpose
Do not despise the days of preparation. He will restore all the years the locusts have eaten. You have been made ready for this time in history—to bear His glory! The harvest field needs your beautiful feet, your authority in ministry because of the places only you have walked; your hours of deep intercession for all God has called you to stand in the gap for; the tears you have sown; your voice of victorious worship; your glorious testimony that’s covered in the blood of Jesus; your YES you have declared for all these years. Get ready for your YES to be answered! He has long ago put the longing in your heart to follow Him no matter where He takes you, and He will be faithful to answer it. I promise. I can testify to this truth.
So, glorious one, whose beautiful feet will bring Jesus His inheritance—the nations—it’s time to get ready! Our greatest days are upon us. Throw off fear and intimidation from the spirit of darkness. There’s a harvest field and a great number of women who need to be brought out of the shadows and sidelines.
“‘Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.’” -Habakkuk 1:5
His House is being rebuilt right now; that’s US! Everything is being shaken. Haggai and the writer of Hebrews 12:26-27 were on point. But it’s not because He’s angry; it’s because of His passionate love for His Bride and the world. How He longs that no one misses Him and we carry the mandate of that commissioning. So, beloved sister, will you dare to pray the prayer I said back in 2004?
“God, send me.”
Let Him speak to you this entire month, to reset your heart and your desires. Lay it all before Him—every last fear and concern. His glory will come—absolutely it will. We just want to be the ones He sees as ready vessels, containers made ready for what is ahead!
