The Urgency of the Great Commission

Worship

“Revive Us Again” by Phil Wickham

Scripture

“And he turned to his disciples and said privately, ‘Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.'” -Luke 10:23-24 (ESV)

Our Generation’s Opportunity

This Scripture is as real for us today as it was for Jesus, looking eye-to-eye with His disciples. This is a now word, as our generation is seeing God displayed in great measure and hearing the wonders of Him covering entire nations and people groups. The great cloud of witnesses cheering us on knows that what has been entrusted to us to both carry and endure is a calling and privilege and honor. All eyes are on the Church in this hour. Will we endure until the end? Will we stay the course and contend for what has been placed in our hands? We could be the generation to usher in the greatest revival history has ever seen!

“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” -1 Corinthians 2:4-5 (ESV)

Ministry on the Front Lines

As you read this, I will be co-leading a team to Latin America, to a country that was decimated by COVID-19 lockdowns, food shortages, lack of medicine during the pandemic, government control, and a strong spiritual root of witchcraft. And we get the honor of carrying Jesus to those who are waiting for our feet, shod with the gospel of peace. I can think of no greater privilege. (Will you pray that we are shielded from the forces of darkness and bring many into the arms of Jesus?)

I have been convinced over the last year that the revival we have been praying and contending for, for decades and generations, is here on a global scale; but I am not seeing it here in America, sadly enough. Signs and wonders are accompanying the gospel and confirming our message. These are new days of great power and boldness for those who are entrusted with the gospel. I want to encourage you that God is moving beyond what we see and hear over social media and mainstream media outlets. He is drawing people to Himself at an accelerated rate! The clock is ticking.

Do you know your crystal clear calling in this hour? Do you have the conviction of your heart that will allow you stay the course and live in utter dependence on Christ in you?

People are waiting for you to open your mouth and declare the gospel. People are waiting for you to be willing to lose your life for the sake of them gaining eternal life.

People are waiting for us to get over being strapped down by distractions, doubt, intellectualism, fear, and excuses and show them the gospel of Christ.

Scripture’s Commission

“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.'” -Mark 16:15-18 (ESV)

I was speaking with a dear friend, Joy, who is 78 and has studied and taught the Bible for decades. She said to me with so much conviction, “We are in the final days of the Church age before the tribulation”. We have been afforded time, beloved Church, but it’s narrowing. The Great Commission is for us now! Preach the gospel, lay hands on the sick, and drive out demons. Your commission is not an option or menu item on a long list of Christian activities. Christ in you lived with this commission as He walked the Earth and now lives inside of millions of believers who have been called to this moment in history. We have a responsibility to the lost. They need to hear the good news and see with their own eyes the victorious power of Christ. He lives in you and has commissioned (sent) you with His dunamis power to make Him known throughout the Earth!

“So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.” -Acts 14:3 (ESV)

By the grace of God, you open your mouth, and He will fill it. By the grace of God, you place your hands on the sick by faith, and He does the miracle. Your hands work in beautiful tandem to love the lost and show them the God who saves! The only thing that is contingent is your will to go and to speak and to pray. God will not force you in this hour to share hope with those who are perishing. You do have a will in the matter. Yet:

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!'” -Romans 10:14-15 (ESV)

Your Unique Assignment

It’s your beautiful feet He wants storming the gates of Hhell to take back the lost. It’s your feet He’s anointed and positioned in areas of influence and opportunity that have been assigned to only you. Just like the blind beggar in Acts 3 who had been assigned to Peter and John, you have people assignments! What if you have someone waiting for you in a specific nation but you keep saying, “No” because your perceived timing or funding or fear or vacation time or life choices won’t allow you to go? Ponder that for a moment.

“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. … ‘Heal the sick who are there and tell them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you”’” -Luke 10:1, 9

On February 2 at 7 p.m. CST, I am hosting an Arise 411 Zoom for the women who are raising their hands to say, “I want to be one of the 72 in my city whom Jesus commissions out.” If you are longing to raise up women in your city and equip them to live lives centered on the Great Commission, will you hop on this Zoom call with me? Here’s the link to register.

“Because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.” -1 Thessalonians 1:5 (ESV)

The clock is ticking. It’s go time! It’s time to contend for this precious gospel and not let go in order to build our lives against the American dream and the fantasy of safety and self-preservation. The harvest is ripe, and people are waiting for you!
