How Creative Arts Can Be Used for Worship and Mission

The old hymn Amazing Grace rang through a Muslim city in Western Europe as an American dance team began performing in the public square.

In this country, art draws a crowd. And Marco—an East-West national partner—couldn’t help but smile at God’s creativity in using dance to attract an audience to watch the foreigners and hear His message of salvation.

Using Dance to Change Lives

When the dancers’ performance ended, Marco proclaimed the good news of the gospel to the bystanders.

He started the story at creation and ended with the death and resurrection of Christ for the sins of the world … including the sins of those who’d wandered to the square that day. Marco’s presentation ended with an invitation to the audience to talk to him or the dancers about the message he shared.

Growing Churches

Many—including local gypsies—approached Marco’s team that day, and placed their faith in Christ. Since then, a gypsy church has tripled in size and believers have publicly declared their faith in Jesus through baptism.
