Field Story: What Happens When the Church Goes to the Nations

An East-West mobilizer named Jay became acquainted with a mobilizer from another missions organization named Austin. As the two interacted, Jay shared East-West’s vision and mission with Austin.

A few years later, Austin became the missions pastor of a church in Minnesota and reached out to Jay. The church had been faithful in praying for and giving toward missions, but it had not sent members of the congregation to the field. Austin wanted to know more about East-West’s opportunities.

Going to the Mission Field

Jay connected Austin with another East-West staffer who took him on a vision trip to Latin America. After the trip, Austin decided he wanted his church to do short-term mission teams with East-West.

Last year, the church sent one team of adults and one team of students to Latin America for a week of evangelism and Four Fields training. Those teams went so well that the church has already planned another trip to Latin America. Austin also took another vision trip to South Asia, and the church will soon send its first team to that region to reach the unreached.

Austin has begun identifying key individuals within the church who can be trained to lead more short-term mission teams.

The Spiritual Fruit of Partnership

The growing partnership between this church and East-West has led to many people hearing the gospel and coming to Jesus. The church’s members have caught the vision of reaching the unreached and are excited about further participating in the Great Commission.

At East-West, we believe that the local church is God’s chosen vehicle to bring hope and salvation to the nations. Whether your congregation is new to missions or deeply invested, we are honored to walk alongside churches to equip, send, and celebrate as they join the movement to reach the unreached.
