“Forever Amen” by Steffany Gretzinger
Scripture
“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” -Luke 18:1, emphasis added
“‘Yes! He will answer them quickly! But the question is: When I, the Messiah, return, how many will I find who have faith and are praying?’” -Luke 18:8, TLB, emphasis added
“‘I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?’” -Luke 18:8, emphasis added
“Then the Master said, ‘Do you hear what that judge, corrupt as he is, is saying? So what makes you think God won’t step in and work justice for his chosen people, who continue to cry out for help? Won’t he stick up for them? I assure you, he will. He will not drag his feet. But how much of that kind of persistent faith will the Son of Man find on the earth when he returns?’” -Luke 18:6-8, MSG, emphasis added
“‘In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.’” -Daniel 7:13-14
A Divine Moment
Do you think He’s getting His sandals strapped back on?
Beloved sisters, I believe that we are in a divine moment of God’s goodness. It may not feel like that in the natural when we look at the turmoil around us. But if God’s character and His ways and His heart toward His people are always faithfulness, goodness, love, and mercy, this moment is not devoid of that reality. I believe that this is our divine interruption, reset, returning, revival for the Bride of Christ!
Christ’s Intercession
My daughter, Lizzy, and I caught a dear friend on a walk one evening, and he shared what the Lord had been speaking to him. He said the Lord asked him, “What are you contending for right now?” As he spoke, my spirit leapt. The Lord hasn’t called us to be reactionary in prayer, but to pray in the purposes and heart of God because we know the One we have loved and we know He is working to bring forth His heart in the world He gave His precious life for.
If Jesus is interceding for us—not in reaction but in preparation—what is He contending for as it pertains to His Bride? What do you think He is praying for us, His beautiful Bride? Revelation 19:7 is the Scripture in my heart, mind, and spirit continually: “Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready (emphasis added).”
In the waiting, Scripture indicates that many will lose heart and fall away in the days of trial and turmoil. We must guard against unbelief, fear, or begging like orphans in prayer. We are daughters, who sit with Jesus in heavenly places (How glorious is that?), who have been adopted into royalty and, therefore, expect as daughters. God hears His people, loves them, cares for them, loves to bless them, and is always fair and merciful.
Questions for Reflection
What has Jesus asked you to contend for in prayer until He returns?
If God is the One who gives faith to us, is it currently activated and applied to everything, everyone and every situation in my life?
If He returned today, would He find me praying and living in expectation of Him?
Active Faith
“God isn’t just for you in some passive sense; God is for you in the most active sense imaginable. The Holy Spirit is praying hard for you. And supernatural synchronicities begin to happen when we tag-team with God and do the same.”
-Mark Batterson, “The Circle Maker”
There’s a rally cry across the earth for us to contend for the most massive move of God history has seen. This is an hour of awakening to those who are perishing and for those who know Jesus but have made Him a side-dish to their lives. Sisters, we have to go on conquest for these two groups of people! Find them, and call them to Jesus. Contend for them. Love them well without shame or judgment. Love them back to Jesus in this hour.
Get expectant! There are exploits assigned to you before the foundations of the world. Joan of Arc saved her nation because she heard the words of the Lord. She lost her life for being misunderstood by a culture that couldn’t receive her. I’m praying for those of you who are reading these words that you would carry an anointing of resolve, boldness, fearlessness, and faith that Joan of Arc carried. I have a sign in my house with one of her quotes that says, “I am not afraid. I was made for this.”
