How to Bring Your Needs Before God in Prayer

Read Psalm 18:6, 34:17, 55:17, 86:7, 145:18.

Understanding the Practice of Prayer

The Psalms are simply prayers put to music. And I’ve learned two things about the practice of prayer through today’s verses:

  • Prayer is a request to God
  • Prayer is a cry to God

God’s Response to Our Requests and Cries

When we make our requests known to God—sometimes through pleading cries—He doesn’t always answer in the way we want. This reminds of me the common saying, “God answers prayers in three ways: yes, no, and wait.” But no matter His response, we can be assured that He hears us and is faithful every time.

Examining Our Requests and Cries

Where are you in your prayer life? Have you called or cried out to God with your prayer requests recently?

Father, thank You for allowing us to come to You with honest prayers. Help us rest in the truth that You hear our prayers. Amen.
