Team member Julie Knight experienced God’s saving power in a very personal and joyful way on our first day of ministry in the villages. On one of her first visits of sharing the Gospel with a group of women, one elderly woman stuck out to her. This woman listened attentively as Julie explained the powerful message of the Gospel to her. “Would any of you like to receive this free gift of salvation today?” Julie asked. With no prompt or instruction on what to do, the elderly woman stood up and stepped forward towards Julie, signifying that she indeed wanted this gift. Julie prayed with the woman, and she joyfully accepted God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ!
Towards the end of the day, the group gathered around the school before time to leave the village. It was in this moment that Julie was able to see the full extent of joy of her new sister in Christ. As a group of children surrounded Julie, singing songs, the elderly woman approached Julie. She walked right up to Julie and looked her in the eyes. In Tamil, she began to scream, “Jesus is my Savior! Jesus really IS my Savior!” After receiving the translation from one of the translators, Julie and the elderly woman embraced with a hug. “Her eyes were just so bright and so full of life!”
This is just one of the many stories of newfound life from our first day of ministry. Thank you to each of you who have been in prayer for the people of this village. The Lord used your prayers to overcome the powers of darkness in many people’s lives on this first day. Praise the LORD!
Satan’s hold on the people of this area is still very strong. Therefore, we continue to ask you all to be in fervent prayer for the lives of the people of Chinavirampattinam as we share the Gospel with them on our second day of ministry in the villages.
Also, please be praying for Pastor Paul Chandro and his wife, Faith. He is the pastor of a nearby church in this area, and he and his small body of believers have the responsibility of following up with the people we shared with on this first day. Pray for them as they follow the command to “make disciples” of these new believers.
