Field Story: Vina Trusts the God of Miracles

“Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God? You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.” -Psalm 77:13-14

Vina owns a food stall near a popular tourist spot in Southeast Asia, hoping to make enough money to provide for her family. One day, she struck up a conversation with some visitors to her food stall. As they talked, the visitors began telling stories about a man named Jesus who performed all sorts of miracles. Vina had never heard of this man before and was enthralled by the stories. The visitors soon needed to leave, but one of them prayed for Vina and her family before departing.

Several days later, the same people visited Vina’s food stall again. She recounted the stories they had told her, and though she couldn’t remember the name of the man who performed the miracles, the stories had left an indelible mark on her. The visitors told her the man’s name is Jesus, and they shared the gospel with her. Enthusiastically, Vina accepted the gospel.

The believers rejoiced for Vina’s salvation and asked how they could pray for her. Vina said she would like prayers for her business to thrive. As they prayed, a large bus of tourists arrived and flocked her food stall. Vina was astounded by the immediate answer to prayer that turned her humble business into a bustling hub of activity.

Ready to share her newfound faith with others, Vina invited the believers to her home to talk to her family. They accepted, and Vina’s husband and daughter attentively listened to them share the gospel. Soon, Vina’s entire family believed in Jesus.

God had one more miracle in store for this family. When Vina’s new friends noticed that her granddaughter was ill, they prayed for God to heal her. God responded and healed the girl’s body. The family praised the God of miracles who had transformed their lives.
