Internships

East-West Ministries offers you the opportunity to craft together internships that connect your passions and unreached nations. Whether it’s in our home office or overseas among a remote unreached people group, East-West Ministries wants to help college students learn more of what it’s like to be involved in missions ministry. 

HEADQUARTERS

In our Plano headquarters, opportunities to intern with our Finance team, Mobilization team, Marketing team and more are available. You may also have the opportunity to travel with a short-term mission team during your internship with East-West. This will give you first-hand experience to see how the work that goes on at our headquarters helps to support the main workers out on the mission field. 

Financial Services: The Financial Services Intern will be a valuable part of the Financial Services Department and help with all aspects of the department. They will assist the supervisor with tasks such as assessing internal control compliance, monitoring donor credit cards for expiration date issues and resolving preemptively, reviewing monthly financial statements, expanding project detail in the accounting system, and reconciling balance sheet accounts monthly. In addition, they will be integrated into the overall functions of the home office through staff and department meetings. 

STMT: The Short-Term Mission Trip Department Intern will be a valuable part of the STMT team and will gain exposure to all aspects of the department. Intern projects in this department involve helping with the logistical coordination of trips, creating and updating orientation manuals and other STMT resource items, connecting with churches to promote short-term trips, working with Area Directors on short-term trip needs, participating in a short-term mission trip and helping to accomplish all facets of a typical East-West STMT. 

Human Resources: The Human Resources Intern will be a valuable part of the Human Resources Department and help with all aspects of the department. They will assist the supervisor with tasks such as employee recognitions, coordinating staff events, assisting with staff training and development initiatives, updating East-West policies & handbooks, aiding in the payroll and benefits process, employee files maintenance, updating the human resources database system and other administrative projects. You will learn the practical application of the importance of employment law and compliance, the interrelationship of HR and Finance in the areas of new employee paperwork, use of a payroll management database, and report generation and Employee benefits management issues related to plan renewal and open enrollment. In addition, they will be integrated into the overall functions of the home office through staff and department meetings. 

Development: The Development Intern will be a valuable part of the Development Department and will gain exposure to all aspects of the department. Intern projects in the department typically involve updating missionary profiles, social media and foundation research as well as grant writing, event planning, maintaining the East-West website, blog writing, and editing missionary brochures and project proposals. 

Mobilization: The Mobilization Intern will be a valuable part of the Mobilization Department and help with all aspects of the department. They will assist the supervisor with tasks such as recruiting short, mid and long term staff, assisting in the planning and implementation of orientation activities, learning interview techniques, coordinating events, processing applications and other miscellaneous tasks.  In addition, the intern will be integrated into the overall functions of the home office through staff and department meetings. 

Security: The Security Intern will be a valuable part of the Security Department and help with all aspects of the department. They will assist the supervisor in tasks such as reading daily intelligence/situation reports, gathering geographically specific information, and researching best practices in safety and security. They will also monitor critical events and provide real time information on developments when needed. The intern will assist with analyses to ensure best practices for East-West security, help develop emergency operations plans and assist with designing courses and training for East-West staff, employees, and volunteers in aspects relating to safety, preparedness, and liability. The Intern will also provide some administrative support with various security projects. 

Field Ministries: The Field Ministries Intern will be a valuable part of the Field Ministries Team and help with all aspects of the department. They will assist the Field Ministries Administrative Assistant with the general administrative duties as well as communication support to be able to learn valuable experience. This will include learning about various filing systems as well as how best to plan, prioritize and organize a diverse workload. The Field Ministries Intern will learn how to create and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and other tools used to support the Field. Key factors such as independent judgment, flexibility, focus, and the ability to constantly re-prioritize will be honed for the Intern.

With missionaries scattered throughout the world in close to 50 countries, the opportunity to intern overseas is also something to consider. Your world can be opened to a new culture, while supporting current missionaries and the ministry they are doing to reach unreached people groups across the nations.
