East-West is thrilled to have 13 stateside interns working alongside us this summer to advance our mission around the globe through their various roles in our ministry. We have loved getting to know them, and we are excited tell you more about the new faces around our office.
By reading up on their experiences, education, fun facts, and favorite past times, we hope you enjoy getting to know our interns!
Ashley U. – Mobilization
Ashley is studying Telecommunication Media Studies and Psychology at Texas A&M. She spent several summers working at Pine Cove as a counselor and loved every minute of it. She enjoys traveling, the outdoors, blogging, Christian ministry and a good cup of coffee.
Sarah G. – Short-term Mission Trips
Sarah is currently pursuing a degree in Counseling at Collin College while also working as a Branch Banker at BB&T. She loves to draw, read, write and exercise. She knows all the moon phases and can point out Orion in the sky!
Avery A. – Financial Services
Avery is studying Accounting and Non-Profit Marketing at Baylor University and comes from a family of Baylor Bears! She is passionate about leading worship and youth ministry and is a part of a sorority at Baylor. She’s excited to pursue ministry after graduation!
Meredith G. – Short-term Mission Trips
Meredith is studying Communication at Truman State University. She’s watched the entire series of Parks and Recreation five times, loves working with high school students and playing UNO with her elderly friends on Monday nights. She’s always up for a good bowl of chicken noodle soup!
Ana L. – Human Resources
Ana just completed her junior year at Texas A&M and is studying Computer Science and Cybersecurity. She enjoys learning new things, especially when it pertains to the character of God. She also likes cooking new recipes, taking road trips, playing board games and going on adventures whenever she can!
Stephanie P. – Development & Marketing
Stephanie just graduated from the University of Richmond with a degree in Computer Science. She enjoys coffee shops, new cities, playing the piano and hiking. Her relatives brought the Poinsettia flower to America from Mexico, so they decided to name it after her family!
Brandon R. – Business Accelerating Movements
Brandon is a junior at Dallas Baptist University and is an Intercultural Studies major with an Entrepreneurship minor. He has participated in several East-West Extreme Trips and currently mentors freshman at DBU. He is an avid outdoorsman, can wiggle his ears without touching them and loves honey bun pastries!
Claire M. – Development & Marketing
Claire is back for her second summer with East-West, but this time in the home office rather than Southeast Asia! She is a Communication major at Dallas Baptist University and is heavily involved with the international students on campus. She loves making coffee, trying ethnic foods, reading and live jazz.
Andrea M. – Development & Marketing
Andrea is a psychology major at Abilene Christian University. She loves to write and paint and is a big fan of books and movies—Good Will Hunting type movies to be more specific!
Chandler J. – Business Accelerating Movements
Chandler is back for summer number three with East-West! He is studying Business at Dallas Baptist University and will be graduating next spring. He enjoys craft coffee, concerts, reading and meeting people from different cultures.
Raj L. – Business Accelerating Movements
Raj is a double major in Social Entrepreneurship and Finance with a minor in Poverty Studies and Social Justice at Baylor University. Along with his work at East-West, he will be putting his business skills into practice through a short-term trip to Africa with a team from Baylor. He is a part of Baylor’s club tennis team and enjoys finding new music, hiking and travelling the world!
Joel V. – Business Accelerating Movements
Joel just graduated from UT Dallas with a Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management. He has had a variety of jobs ranging from conducting research data to being the mascot for Chick-fil-A. He loves hiking, sports, playing guitar and piano, yo-yoing and is a diehard Houston sports fan!
McKenzie C. – Business Accelerating Movements
McKenzie just graduated from UNT with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. She loves to dance, whether it’s salsa, hip-hop or ballet! She played club volleyball at Texas Tech before transferring to UNT and she has also visited Machu Picchu!
